The beautiful fall leaves are almost gone and trick or treaters are on their way, so you know it's time for the fall time change. Time for cocooning and once again feathering our nests. Maybe its time to add a fireplace - zone heating can help cut your heating costs. The newer electric ones can cost as little as $.07 an hour and provide cozy heat to a kitchen, family rm or even bathroom - how decadent! Any improvements to your home can only protect your investment while you get to enjoy it too! What a neat trick!
Are you ready for Trick or Treat? Our real estate market has been a treat this year as prices have gone up 6% from last year in the GTA. In September new listings were up by 12% in Durham and year to date figures show a healthy market. The average January price was $318,000 while average September price was up to $336,000. A better supply of homes point towards a slower pace of price growth in 2013, along with tightening mortgage guidelines. Rising interest rates may be on the horizon in the new year, but as of now they are holding tight. Great time to buy or sell.
However there is a trick too! Housing prices in many Canadian markets are experiencing a downward trend in high priced cities like Vancouver and Toronto. But Toronto's loss is our gain! We are still one of the most affordable areas in the GTA, so we get an influx of Toronto buyers who want to escape the high prices. Our prices and communities are looking more attractive than ever - a real treat!
So don't let the goblins scare you - there is still lots of good news in our region! Pass it on to any of your friends or family - it is still a great time to buy or sell in Durham Region! Let me put my 30 years experience to work for them to get the best home or investment property, or to sell one. I am always glad to hear from you.
All the Best,
P.S. Coat your cut pumpkin with vaseline or vegetable oil to last longer
